St Michael’s Anglican Church was built in 1871 in the Far North community of Ōhaeawai. Salmond Reed Architects guided the restoration of this historic church with a condition assessment and detailed documentation in 2020.

Our client’s brief was to design a three-bedroom home on their 47 ha Northland site showcasing the magnificent views of rolling farmland, protected bush and the expansive ocean encompassing Waipu Cove, the Hen and Chickens and Sail Rock.
All Saints’ Church in Hokitika is of great significance to New Zealand’s history and the South Island in particular. It is a Category I listed heritage building and a WWI Memorial and a rare example of the early use of reinforced concrete cavity construction. The Church required urgent repairs to prevent further deterioration through water ingress and seismic upgrade work.
